THE SCHOOL
Vivekananda Vidya Vardhaka Sangha (Regd) Puttur, is a household name in this part of Karnataka state, for its yeoman service in the field of education. Resolutely following the teachings of the spiritual icon Swamy Vivekananda and practising Indian culture and tradition Vivekananda Vidya Vardhaka Sangha (Regd) has been meeting the educational requirements of the young population, for which it has established institutions imparting academic and technical education.
On the initiative of Vivekananda Vidya Vardhaka Sangha (Regd) our institution Shri Rama higher primary school was established and became operational in 2011-12. The school campus is in Uppinangady village, a place tailor-made for the educational pursuits-sylvan surroundings, serene atmosphere and a rich learning ambience. The lone challenge is the economic backwardness of the people. Consequently, the school succeeded in enrolling only a few students in the years of its establishment.
That did not deter the school from forging ahead of its mission. Educating the rural poor is the raison d’tre of the school. Eventually families in the neighbouring villages were approached with a request to educate the young ones by enrolling in our school. The efforts paid off as on the school rolls there are students from Ramanagara, Hirebandady, Ilanthila, Nekkilady, Karaya, Bajatturu, Barya, Uli, Uruvalu, Tekkaru, Puttila villages. These villages are backward on the economic landscape. Needless to say a great number of the enrolled students hail from families that are below the poverty line. The school attaches due importance to education of the girl child. Girls are encouraged and motivated to rural and continue their education. About half of the students studying in various classes in our school are The school offers Pry, Higher Pry and High School education. The encouraging response from the well meaning people and the young knowledge seekers has propmted us to expand the education space and modernize. Accordingly, a blueprint has been prepared. .
